This Island, Earth, 2022
Paper, photographs, traces of soil/dust/sand, cotton dyed with iron and rust, 55” x 12”
In This Island, Earth, time is camouflaged under our feet in images of geologic portraits. These mineral compositions and rocks document and witness time, share regional histories through color and formation, and reveal the earthly elements that originate from celestial events outside our planet. These fantastical landscapes both feel, and are, extraterrestrial. The book contains color swatches sourced from dust, earth, and sand rubbed on paper at various locations.
